HomeLab Engineering
A personal engineering laboratory exploring home automation, practical systems and the engineering thinking behind building them.

What is it?
HomeLab Engineering is a personal engineering laboratory and an ongoing record of building an intelligent home.
The technology includes Raspberry Pi, Home Assistant, networking, automation and related systems, but the project is deliberately about more than the tools themselves. It documents the engineering decisions, experiments, failures, recoveries and improvements that shape the system.
Why?
After a long software career, the HomeLab became a way to continue learning by building things rather than simply consuming technology.
The project explores how curiosity can become disciplined engineering practice: observing carefully, experimenting, learning from failure, documenting decisions and simplifying systems so they remain dependable.
Current status
The HomeLab is an evolving engineering project and its experiences are being collected as the foundation for a longer-form book project.
